The world of publishing is undeniably an exciting one to be in, as exciting and thrilling as turning the pages of a deeply engaging book. Publishing is propelling forward in Malaysia. Between 2009 to 2013, it was reported by the National Library of Malaysia that there was an average annual growth rate of 6.1% in terms of the number of book titles that were published locally.

When one takes a step back to look at the Malaysian publishing industry in general, rapid growth is also observed. From 2009 to 2011, the average annual growth rate of the gross output value of publishing services in Malaysia clocked a reading of 26.4%, testifying to the increase in both the number of players in the industry and the quantities of products they produce (Source: Department of Statistics).

This was largely due to the increase in the number of adult fiction and textbook titles that were published during the period. As of 2013, these two categories represented 76.6% of the number of book titles published that year (Source: Department of Statistics).
